Terms of use
Last updated 8 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and [legal entity name] (“Svadhyaya”, “we”) when you use Svadhyaya. We’ve tried to keep them short and readable.
Who can use Svadhyaya
You need to be 18 or older. During early access we approve accounts one by one, so signing up doesn’t guarantee access straight away.
What Svadhyaya is, and isn’t
Svadhyaya is a study companion. It isn’t a substitute for a teacher, and nothing here is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you’re struggling, please talk to someone qualified. In India you can call Tele-MANAS on 14416, any time.
We work hard to get the texts and explanations right, but they can contain mistakes. If you spot one, please report it.
Mitra
Mitra is an AI guide. Its answers can be wrong or incomplete, so check the verse it cites, and don’t treat what it says as the final word on any tradition. Mitra isn’t a guru and doesn’t speak for any teacher or tradition. Free accounts can ask three questions a day.
Ojas
Ojas are points you earn by studying. They have no cash value and can’t be transferred or exchanged for money. We may change how ojas are earned and what they unlock, but we won’t take away ojas you’ve earned because you missed a day.
Your content
What you write, including journal entries, questions and reports, belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it only so we can run Svadhyaya for you. When you delete your account, it goes too.
Our content
The source texts we use are in the public domain. Our translations, explanations, images, audio and design are ours. You’re welcome to share individual teachings for personal, non-commercial use with a link back. Please don’t copy the library wholesale or scrape the site.
Fair use
Don’t misuse Svadhyaya: no trying to break in, overload it, get around its limits, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.
Price
Svadhyaya is free during early access, and the Bhagavad Gita will always be free. If we add paid features, we’ll tell you clearly before anything costs money.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why.
Liability
We provide Svadhyaya as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses that come from using it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes go to the courts of [city].
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll email you before the change takes effect.
